Rental Equipment
Warwick AirSoc has a selection of 4 units of hire equipment. New players get priority. FOR £6 you will be issued with:
- An AK-47
- Charged battery
- 600 round hi-capacity self-wind magazine
- Mesh mask face protection
- A set of DPM Camouflage (subject to size availability)
You will have to sign a rental agreement also. If you break it, you pay for it – we’re not made of money! A special system exists for booking this rental equipment. Please refer to pre-game emails. When you sign up for an event let us know what you want to rent well in advance, as it is first come first served.
What to Bring to a Skirmish
There are a number of things the new player should bring to a skirmish:
- Good boots – hiking boots are ideal, trainers are a no.
- Plenty of water
- Old, dark clothes you don’t mind
- Snacks
- Money!
- A good sense of humor and sense of fair play
A camouflage jacket and/or trousers is normally supplied with site or society rental gear.
If you are using your own equipment or borrowing from a friend, you MUST have safety glasses, goggles or mask to play. We (and sites) reserve the right to “idiot test” any eye protection we suspect of being unsuitable (sniper and full auto burst at point blank range, yes we take them off you first). Gas masks are NOT adequate protection without reinforcement to the lenses, such as wire mesh.
Warwick AirSoc Armoury
The Warwick AirSoc Armoury is a secure lock-up housed in SUHQ. It’s the only place on campus where replica firearms, such as most airsoft guns, are allowed to be stored.
Access to the armoury is strictly controlled by the Quartermaster. Emails will be sent out to members when the armoury is to be opened during the first few weeks and last few weeks of term, for signing in of equipment. The armoury will also be opened when we meet before games and on special request (subject to availability of the Quartermaster). During the first few weeks of the academic year the armoury is usually opened slightly more often to give new members a chance to get used to the system.
The quartermaster carefully records all items left in the armoury.
Society Goodies
At some point in Term 1 of every year members are given the opportunity to buy spiffy Warwick AirSoc branded clothing. Look out for the emails!
